How do I load a show from a floppy disk on a Pearl Tiger?

If you have a PC with a Floppy Disk Drive then refer to
FAQ 10020 - How do I move a show file from floppy disk to USB stick on a PC?

Failing that if you have a spare floppy disk drive with ribbon cable or a Pearl 2004 with permission from the owner to open the console and remove the floppy disk drive…

Note that although the Tiger does not have a floppy disk drive, it still has the floppy disk electronics and so it is possible to plug a floppy disk drive into the motherboard and use it.
Warning: This method involves opening up the console(s) and plugging a floppy disk drive in the Pearl Tiger, only do this in extreme emergency, it may invalidate your warrantee, you will need a small pozi drive screwdriver and a large flatblade screwdriver (to open the Pearl 2004).

  1. Ensure mains power is disconnected from the consoles before opening.

  2. Open the Pearl 2004, and carefully remove the floppy disk drive and unplug the ribbon cable from the motherboard (ignore this step if you have a spare floppy disk drive).

  3. Open the Pearl Tiger (there are three screws under the curved front which allow the panel to open)

  4. Carefully place the floppy disk drive in the console and plug the ribbon cable into Tiger motherboard floppy disk connector and locate a floppy disk power connector from the power wiring on the PSU.

  5. Check again that you have connected the floppy disk ribbon cable and power connector correctly, and that the floppy disk drive is well away from any electronics.

  6. Place your disk in the floppy disk drive and power up the console.

  7. Use the Disk Load function to load the show from into the Tiger.

  8. Save the show onto a memory stick

  9. Power down the console and remove the floppy disk drive and carefully replace the power cable to ensure it clears the roller when the console is shut.

  10. Close the Tiger and REPLACE the front panel screws.

  11. Return the floppy drive to the Pearl 2004 re connect and close up this console. Check the Floppy disk drive still works.
