Masters of Dirt 2010 Kicks Off in Vienna!
18th February – 11th April 2010

Back Up Next
The jam packed MOD tour is currently rocking its way from Vienna through to Dublin. With an explosive line-up Lighting Designer, Peter Knoll, takes time out to give us the lowdown on the colossal riding arena and explains how he found love with our D4 Vision.

Peter Knoll with D4
Masters of Dirt production company, Fechter Management, have gone for a larger tour than ever before with an arena 230 ft by 115 ft the stage is set for some twists and turns. With only a few hours for set-up Knoll comments;

‘The new MOD tour consists of much more Material than in the past years, but with the Avolites’ Diamond 4 I don't have to extend the console in terms of faders or physical outputs. It’s the smoothest and fastest way to get the show programmed. Plus the instantaneous access to 156 Faders and Cue's!’
Knoll refuses to accept any other console and the tour has been sensational so far. Built upon the founding proposal of ‘crazy idea’s’ as its priority design concept, the D4 desk controls a heap of lighting fixtures. Amid his minimum required ‘light strength’ of 700 lux Knoll’s truss structure holds; 18 Martin MAC 700 spots, Four Martin MAC 2000 spots, 14 Martin Atomic strobes, 20 Martin Mac 600, 40 by 5kw Fresnels with scrollers, 40 by 5kw floodlights, 12 by Clay Paky Stage Zoom 1200, six UV floodlights (floor mounted), nine Pixelline 1044, six Par 30, six ACL units, two 2.5kW Followspots and 60 floor mounted Par 64 CP60 VNSP. The challenge he says is ‘not to blind the rider’s when they attempt their back flips!’
