Avolites at Ian Brown
O2 Brixton Academy

Back Up Next
A man abundant in controversy, existing on his own terms walked on stage with a familiar swagger. The heaving crowds at Brixton’s intimate O2 arena came to soak up Brown’s fractious persona at his eleventh return to the London stage. Despite some sound interference the lighting never faltered in the capable hands of Lighting Designer Dave ‘Fletch’ Fletcher from Colour Sound Experiment.
Crowd pleaser F.E.A.R. took the venue by storm, along with an electric rainbow which streamed from the backdrops. Golden beams then flushed our eyes as they switched seamlessly with sparks of inferno-esque bolts of light, which only pushed the already highly charged atmosphere to another level. Fletch worked with one of his preferred consoles, the Avo Expert (Titan), which he favours for the way in which the numerous faders work and give him more access to everything. He also used an Avo Tiger (running a hippotizer V2). The idea was based along an LED backdrop and developed from there on. In the end the whole rig used 12 Mac 2000 profiles, 12 Mac 250 Wash’s, six Robe 700 Wash’s, four Mac 250 Entour, 24 Panels of Colourweb, 20 Pixel Lines, 8 x 4 Lites (four with scrollers), 12 x 2 Lites, 6 Martin Atomix and eight
Source 4 Profiles.
The former Stone Roses singer (who departed company in 1996) has released several top singles since going solo and cobbling together a few of his own hits.
