An Avolites Diamond 4 has been installed at Cadogan Hall, Chelsea, to control the in house effects lighting rig in London’s newest concert hall and historic venue.
Cadogan Hall is available for corporate events, parties and function hire and is also the new home of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It’s kitted out with a fully flexible 21st century technical infrastructure capable of delivering a broad range of production requirements, designed and installed by Futurist Projects.
Futurist’s Michael Lister specified the Diamond 4. He wanted a quality, powerful, easy to use, reliable industry-standard console, that visiting LDs, programmers and operators were likely to be familiar with, “Avolites was the only contender” he says.
The console controls 18 Clay Paky Stage Profile SV 1200 fixtures and 20 Source Four 15/30 degree profiles. These are rigged into special recessed cavities along the roof of the main hall. The console controls over 800 DMX channels, and there’s also the facility for visiting productions to tie in their own touring fixtures and run these through the console.
It’s intended that the building – owned by Cadogan Estates - will be used for a huge variety of events in addition to orchestral, classical and concert performances. These will include conferences, exhibitions, product launches, touring events, etc,
Futurist has specified and used Avo products many times in the past, and knows the service, back up, local support and training facilities are excellent, which was also important for any installed project. Lister adds, “They couldn’t do enough to help” at Avolites in terms of making it happen.
The first event on which the Diamond 4 was used was a performance by renowned soprano, Kiri Te Kanawa. |
