PLASA 99 proved another resounding success for Avolites. Demonstrating the flexibility of Avolites consoles which were used to control the spectacular water and fire features. Many advisers say fire and water don't mix, however perhaps when kept under strict Avolites control the rule can be broken. The volume of visitors from world-wide ending up on stand C4 reflects the increasing internationality of the PLASA show, now arguably rated as the most important European trade exhibition of its genre. The Avolites tempo of the show was incredibly up-beat. There there were many comments made about the eye-catching stand design. Avolites’ sales director Steve Warren commented, “I know we keep saying that each PLASA is the best one yet, but this year REALLY has been the absolute best to date”. Plenty of sales were actually confirmed at the show as well as the seeds of new ones germinated. |

LDI 1999
The show attracted a large world-wide audience of established lighting professionals plus plenty from the upcoming new generation. Avolites was represented at the show by their US distributor Avolites America which is run by Rob and Cathy Steel who have enjoyed a great year of business in both North and South America. The stand featured all current products and was packed with activity throughout the three day show. In fact, it proved to be the busiest LDI to date with particular interest in the new Azure 2000 Shadow which was launched at PLASA and the ART digital dimming range as well as the Diamond III, Sapphire 2000 and Pearl – the choice of so many LD’s for live intuitive operation consoles. Visitor quality was excellent, and the on-line credit card swipe facilities certainly proved very useful with several major orders taken ‘live’ on the stand! One of the sales confirmed at the show was to supply five further Pearl consoles to the operators of the House of Blues chain of venues. Avolites America has already successfully installed several of these in the US, and there is the promise of many more to come as the highly successful chain of live music venues expands into Europe throughout 2000 |
