Running the New York Marathon was a fantastic experience, the weather was kind by being a dry sunny day (it might have been very cold or very wet or both and we had both during our trip).
I must say a huge thank you to all the New Yorkers who made us feel so welcome and cheered us on. The streets were lined with well wishers from the start to finish and the event was brilliantly organised by Sports Tours in the UK and the event organisers themselves.
The cheering was particularly welcome on 1st Avenue the length of which seemed to go on for ever!
I raised well over £3,500 from our suppliers, staff at Avolites and Avolites itself, this has been distributed to Get Kids Going, Cancer Research and No More Land Mines. Thanks to all my sponsors for the encouragement and faith that I could and would do it. (No one told me that 26 miles
is further than Avolites to Luton – probably just as well too.)
One last thing, whilst running Brenda said …. Next year we must…..
